Ranchi, Feb. 21: The Janata Dal (United) has trained its gun on Union minister of state for social justice Nagmani.
“Nagmani has no grounds to re-contest the Chatra seat. A Bihari, Nagmani won the seat on RJD ticket and has recently joined the BJP. A section of BJP is also against his inclusion in the party,” said JD (U) leader and revenue minister Madhu Singh.
He added that the Chatra seatshould be given to JD(U).
The JD(U) leaders claimed that the BJP and the JD(U) were evenly matched in Chatra because both have two MLAs each in the Lok Sabha constituency.
After holding a close-door meeting at energy minister Lalchand Mahto’s residence, which was attended by PHED minister Jaleshwar Mahto, welfare minister Ramesh Singh Munda and state NDA convener Gautam Sagar Rana, Singh told reporters, “though the central leaders will decide the final seat-sharing in Jharkhand, we have demanded four seats — Chatra, Koderma, Giridih and Rajmahal.”
“No seat-sharing formula is permanent, nothing is permanent in politics. We should be given Koderma as BJP lost it in the last elections and we have our claims on Rajmahal and Giridih as we have a strong support base there,” he said.
“The BJP cannot win the Rajmahal or Giridih seat without our help. The BJP has already agreed to sacrifice over 25 seats in Tamil Nadu. When it can be done in Tamil Nadu, why not in Jharkhand?” he said.
