Jamshedpur: People visiting the popular Ghorabandha-based Sai Baba Temple on the outskirts of Telco can expect a smooth ride, thanks to the inauguration of the 2.25km Sai Dham Marg on Thursday which will replace the dirt track devotees had to use to reach the popular spiritual getaway.
The 6feet-wide Portland cement concrete (PCC) road constructed with state government funds, connects Telco with Ghorabandha and Manifitta via the Sri Sainath Devasthanam, as the temple is popularly known.
Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and local MLA Ramchndra Sahis jointly inaugurated the road. Speaking on the occasion, Mahato said, "I am happy as the road will enable visitors to reach the temple without encountering the bumpy rides they had in its absence."
Sahis promised street lights on the road. "I will try to ensure that street lights are installed along the road soon. This will help people to travel in ease even after dusk," he said.
Devotees flock in the thousands to Sri Sainath Devasthanam, modelled on Maharashtra's famous Shirdi Sai Temple, since it was established in 2014. Built on two acres, the temple has a 5.5feet marble idol of Shirdi Sai Baba - the saint who is regarded as an incarnation of Krishna by some and a peer by others.
Temple promoter Sai Parivar Vishwa Seva Sansthan trustee Anup Ranjan said the construction of the PCC Road was completed in a record 10-month time. "The vital road-link will help tourists and visitors to reach the temple without any difficulty," he said. The road will also help residents of Ghorabandha.
