Jamshedpur: This certainly promises to be a Holi to remember.
Several posh hotels of the steel city will throw open their doors to some grand Holi bash, in line with New Year's eve parties, this year.
Like other parts of the country, in Jharkhand and Bihar too, Holi is celebrated by smearing colours on others. For the Bihari community, delicious preparations, especially chicken, mutton and malpua, are an integral part of the festivity.
The hotels have decided to crank up the fun by adding music, dance and more food to their Holi celebration platter. They will also allow only organic colours ( gulal) to be used during the celebrations.
The Sonnet, a hotel in Bistupur, will organise a rooftop party on March 1 evening. The hotel has roped in a Calcutta-based a disc jockey. At Rs 2,000 per couple, the hotel will serve unlimited food, which includes thandai and biryani, and allow guests to make the most of the festival with gulal.
"We will organise it (Holi party) on March 1, on the eve of Holi. This is something that has never happened before. We take this opportunity to promote eco-friendly Holi using organic colours. People can also dance to the latest Bollywood numbers," the hotel's food and beverages manager Anup Bera said.
The Kannelite Hotel in Sakchi will also organise a Holi bash, titled Holi Aai Re, on February 28 between 11am and 4 pm.
This hotel will entice visitors with a rain dance on its lawn and live music. Guests can savour a lavish north Indian spread, complete with 10 types of desserts, including jalebi, rabri, rasmalai, gujiya, malpua and several bakery items.
"Holi is all about Indian food and music. It is a time to enjoy. So we have introduced rain dance where people and kids can enjoy to the fullest. The weather too is pleasant which will add to the festive factor. We will have biryani as the main course. This is also an opportunity to promote organic Holi," The Kannelite's corporate affairs head Manish Pandey said.
