Jamshedpur, April 21: Peshawari kebab, boneless lamb cubes marinated in a mixture of ginger and mutton roganjosh ? these were some of the special delicacies prepared for the Pakistan cricket team during its stay at the Fortune Hotel Centre Point here.
Now, food connoisseurs in the steel city, too, can look forward to savouring the delicacies served to Inzamam and his boys.
Fortune Hotel Centre Point is organising a 10-day food festival, ?Cricketer?s Delight?, in which the people of the city would get the opportunity to feast on the delicacies the cricketers gorged on.
The festival kicked off yesterday at Spice Kitchen, a restaurant at the hotel. The hotel has doled out a number of delicacies ? from Peshawari and Continental to Chinese ? for food-lovers in the city.
The restaurant is adorned with pictures of players during their stay at the hotel and the gifts they handed over before checking out.
Jalpa Parikh, director of the hotel, said the stay of the Pakistan team was memorable. The Peshawari dishes served to the players were well-appreciated and now, the hotel authorities want to offer the same to the people. ?The festival was inaugurated yesterday and the response has been tremendous. The people are keen to try out the favourite dishes of the Pakistani players,? Parikh said.
The director said the festival has been planned for 10 days but could be extended on public demand. ?The best part of the food served during the festival is that ingredients used to prepare the food have been procured from their original places, while the sauces have been imported to add flavour to the dishes,? Parikh said.
She informed that the hotel had roped in chef Gautam Mishra from a luxury hotel in Calcutta to prepare the Peshawari dishes for the players. Mishra gave instructions to the chef of the hotel on how to prepare such delicacies. Now, the food and beverages department of the hotel has come up with a host of mouth-watering items for food buffs.
During the festival, food enthusiasts could savour dishes like fish tikka, reshmi kebab, murg malai kebab, barrah kebab and peshawari kebab. Oriental delights like sapo chicken, Indonesian spring rolls, hot basil prawn and chilli garlic fish are some of the other attractions.
