Jamshedpur: Consumers enjoying services of Tata Steel utility wing, Jusco, can now monitor their electricity meter readings and what they pay in real time through the revamped mobile app.

This is not all, consumers can pay Jusco utility bills through e-wallet Paytm from now, apart from earlier options BillDesk, Airtel Money and Vodafone M-Pesa.

In a slew of new features added on Thursday to Zimmedar Steel City Mobile App, which had been launched by Jusco in October 2015, a consumer can actually monitor the amount of power he or she uses and the money that needs to be paid for it. This apart, the app will give fogging and overhead water tank cleaning schedules. The consumer can also upload pictures of civic gripe and track its solution, get notifications of major events and a link to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) Vishwas app.

Jusco has become the first utility service provider in Jharkhand to offer such a range of services. The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store or from the homepage of the Jusco website www.juscoltd.com using smartphones both Android and iOS.

Asked, its spokesperson Rajesh Rajan said it was a part of their effort to stay connected with consumers and residents of Jamshedpur in a smarter way. "We have added these new features in the app from today and many more features would be added. Real-time monitoring of electricity reading will provide an opportunity to users to optimise electricity consumption in households. Also, knowing fogging and tank cleaning schedules will prepare house-owners ahead in advance. Even non-consumers can use the TMH link to get OPD appointments via the app. And, we are also encouraging community participation in keeping the city clean by inviting them to upload picture of their civic problems through the app and track the solution too," Rajan said.

Tata Steel employees numbering nearly 17,000 who use Jusco services have bill amounts deducted from monthly salaries. Jusco also has a general consumer base (non-Tata employees) of 45,000 power and water connections that cater to nearly 700,000 residents who live in Tata command areas.

Rajan also said those with Paytm can pay Jusco utility bills. "We had an understanding with BillDesk, Airtel Money and Vodafone M-Pesa. Now, we tied up with Paytm," he said.

He added they were in talks with traders' outfits for getting big sales and festive discounts uploaded on the app.

"We want to make our app as useful as possible. Knowing about discounts and big sales before festivals will help shoppers in a big way," Rajan said.
