She painted her hobby in the right hue and today she is a self-taught professional artist.

Meet Indu Mishra (39) who is all set to display her paintings in Jamshedpur during a seven-day exhibition titled Resonance. After her solo exhibitions in Bokaro and Ranchi, 35 works of Mishra will adorn the walls of Off the Wall art gallery in Super Centre, Sakchi, from September 4 to 10.

“I used to paint when I was in school. But, after I got married, my family became my top priority. However, once my sons grew up, I again took up painting as a hobby. Soon all the walls of my house had only one thing — my paintings. My husband Harshnath then suggested an exhibition,” Mishra recalled.

Her first solo show was organised in Bokaro in April 2013 with 45 paintings. Mishra tasted success with her debut. She sold as many as 25 paintings. Her second exhibition — Beyond the Boundaries — was arranged at JSCA stadium in Dhurwa during the India-Australia ODI last October.

Mishra paints abstract and modern landscapes as well as replicates Madhubani paintings on handmade paper and cloth. Her medium is both oil and acrylic. She is also a pro in spray painting.

After Jamshedpur, her next stop will be Mumbai.

The exhibition — Different Strokes — will be held at Walkeshwar’s Art Desh Gallery in December.
