Jamshedpur, May 15: It promises to be a treat for the automobile lovers of the country.

The Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada), with help from Tata Motors, is working on a project to construct a state-of-the art automobile museum in the industrial hub. This will the first automobile museum of the country where the evolution of automobile, especially that of Tata Motors, and automobile components of some of the world?s most respected names in the industry will be displayed.

A senior officer in Aiada said the museum will display all the vehicles and components manufactured by Tata Motors and its ancillary units in Adityapur. Further, components manufactured by some of the local companies for Ford and General Motors would also be displayed at the museum. This unique project will come up on a 12-acre plot of land in the Adityapur industrial area.

The officer said the museum would not just be a centre to showcase the evolution of automobile as at the Ford?s museum in the USA. It will also be a place of learning for hundreds of engineering and diploma students.

?The students doing their engineering and diploma from various technical institutes do not have complete practical knowledge of automobile evolution. The museum will provide them with an opportunity to spend their time here learning the evolution of automobile and make necessary innovations,? the officer said.

He added that the museum will also help in showcasing the quality work of the automobile component manufacturers of Adityapur for prospective customers. ?Any prospective customer can just visit the museum, see the products on display and have a fair idea of the quality of work done in the automobile component manufacturing units here,? he added.

Managing director of Aiada Vandana Dadel said this unique concept is new in the country and details of the project are being finalised in consultation with the representatives of the automobile major.

At present, the discussions of setting up the automobile museum at Adityapur are in a preliminary stage. ?Aiada has identified a plot of land in the industrial area where this unique museum could be constructed. However, the exact details about this project and what all would be displayed are yet to be finalised by the automobile major which has a significant role to play in setting up the museum,? she added. Divisional manager of Tata Motors P.J. Singh said the company has received the proposal. ?We are studying it,? Singh said.
