Hazaribagh, Feb. 22: Girls of Hazaribagh who want to pursue higher studies will soon see their dreams fulfilled.

Vice-chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Arvind Kumar today said that it was a matter of time before the district got a higher education centre.

A team from the University Grants Commission (UGC) will visit the varsity in March-April to do a survey for the project.

The team would decide where to construct the institute for which VBU has received Rs 5 crore from the Centre. Kumar said the institute would cater to girls who come from economically poor backgrounds and the institute would have 100 seats.

The vice-chancellor said he was working to bring a hi-tech education system at VBU. The UGC had sanctioned Rs 20 lakh to equip the postgraduate departments at VBU with projectors.

“Projectors would help the students to learn fast as data and other visuals can be displayed on the screen. It will also make education interesting for students,” Kumar said.

According to Kumar, VBU would start a course on seed technology from the new session. An advanced and modern research centre for students of seed technology would also be built, he added.

He said he does not want brain drain from the district therefore, he is bringing in latest technology in the varsity to promote education here.
