Ranchi, June 26: The state government has formed a core group under the newly constituted Jharkhand Council for Educational Research and Training (JCERT) to frame the curriculum for Class I to XII.

The core group, comprising college principals and school teachers from around the state, was formed at the directorate of secondary education today.

The group would be responsible for monitoring the overall curriculum and also give suggestions for framing the curriculum.

In the first primary meeting, there were around 14 college and school principals, including representatives from the Child in Need Institute.

The committee would submit their suggestions to the director of secondary education, A.K. Sinha, during the second round of meeting scheduled on June 29.

However, state government is yet to recruit staff and construct a building for the council to function in a full-fledged manner.

Sinha said a building has been identified and the department plans to start functioning very soon. “Every state and union territory has to frame its syllabus according to the National Curriculum Framework (NCF),” he said.

“The main objective of the meeting was to crystallise the role of the boards in imp- lementing NCF which mentioned that subjects like social sciences, mathematics, science, environmental education should be included while designing a framework,” said Sinha.
