Gita chant champs

As many as 132 students from 32 English-medium schools participated in an inter-city Bhagwad Gita recitation competition organised by spiritual organisation Chinmaya Mission near Ranchi Lake in the heart of the city on Sunday.

Ranchi: As many as 132 students from 32 English-medium schools participated in an inter-city Bhagwad Gita recitation competition organised by spiritual organisation Chinmaya Mission near Ranchi Lake in the heart of the city on Sunday.

The participants were selected from among 20,000 students through school-level and city-level screenings held on Sundays during the past three months. Memory power, pronunciation, tune and overall presentation were the judging parameters. Urban development minister C.P. Singh was the chief guest.

As many as 36 students were adjudged best, out of whom 12 - three each from four groups were selected for first, second and third prizes while the remaining 24 won consolation prizes. Prizes will be given on January 7.

Inyaya Trivedi (Jawahar Vidya Mandir), Priyanshu Sagar Nayak (Tender Heart), Shreya Bhaskar (DPS) and Pragati Priyam (DAV Public School) topped the four groups.
