Ranchi, May 18: Now booking a gas cylinder would be fun.

Have an icecream or check the latest safety machines, fire extinguishers and other sundry items while you book your gas at Indian Oil outlets.

While Indian Oil petrol outlets have already begun selling non-fuel items, now it’s time for gas outlets to get a makeover.

Around 30 selected gas outlets in Ranchi and Jamshedpur are already donning a new look following Indian Oil’s latest move to increase footfall.

Now select gas dealers in Ranchi and Jamshedpur have stocked up on water filters, soaps, incense sticks, aprons, fire extinguishers and other sundry items so that customers who book cylinders can buy other essential items at the same time.

“The idea is to increase the footfall at our gas and petrol outlets. With increasing competition from public and private sector industries, it has become necessary to increase the range of products,” said Sivasis K. Dey, senior divisional retail sales manager and state-level co-ordinator, Indian Oil.

Dey revealed that they have already signed an MOU with Karnataka Soaps whereby quality soaps and incense sticks would be made available at gas outlets.

Gas dealers are already selling safety gadgets like gas hoses and now aprons and fire extinguishers have been added to their kitty.

In addition, MoUs are expected with Bata Shoes and Kwality Walls.

Besides, both Indian Oil and petrol outlets would also provide e-ticket facilities to its clients whereby both rail and air tickets would be made available.

Customers would no longer require to queue up outside railway reservation counters or flock to various airline outlets to buy tickets. Such facilities would now be available at gas and petrol outlets.

“We want to ensure that all necessary items are available under one roof. Besides, the scheme would also increase the margins of our dealers,” Dey said.
