Jamshedpur, Nov. 14: The second day of Ensemble-2009, the XLRI fest, focused on discussing human resource and its importance.

On its second day, the fest continued with talks by eminent corporate executives, including Hindustan Unilever executive director Leena Nair. Nair has been voted among 25 most powerful businesswomen in India thrice. Also there was Sameer Nagaraj, the head of employee relations at Hindustan Unilever, L&T executive vice-president N. Sivaraman and J.N. Mishra, the SBI general manager. The speech was part of the SBI Idea Summit.

Nair, through video-conferencing, shared her views on “HR in 2015”. She stressed about the trends in human resource and what it will take to be an HR manager with “impact” in the near future.

“The HR world needs to have at least 30-40 per cent women which will subsequently lead more people to have equal opportunities in business world. The two major areas that are an absolute necessity for any successful HR manager are obsessive connect with business and deeper HR skills,” said Nair, an XLRI alumnus. She also spoke of her days at the B-school XLRI.

Nagaraj spoke about “HR transformation for business success”, while other speakers deliberated on the Ensemble-2009 theme — “Integrity and Initiative”.

The B-school today organised a number of games, including Prometheus. It’s the flagship finance event of Ensemble and was conducted this year by FINAX (The Finance Association at XLRI). The prize money for the game is Rs 1.3 lakh.

Also there was Avant Garde, a case study competition organised by Sapphire in association with Hindustan Unilever.

XLRI bagged the first place followed by Management Development Institute, Gurgaon (MDI) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Avant Garde, while the War of Wits, held yesterday, was won by MDI and followed by TISS and XLRI.
