| Three of the five persons, who have been arrested in connection with the Punjab National Bank ATM robbery, at the senior superintendent’s office in Ranchi on Monday. The gang had robbed Rs 23 lakh from an ATM operator of Writer Safe Guard — a Calcutta-based company that loads cash in ATMs — at Kutchery Road on May 3. The arrested have been identified as Manoj Mishra alias Mani Baba, Laxmikant Singh alias Surjeet Singh, Ravi Singh, Mahadeo Oroan, and Vinod Mistry. While Manoj, Laxmikant and Ravi had executed the robbery, the two others helped them. Police have recovered Rs 7 lakh and a 9mm pistol from them. “Except Ravi, all were arrested from different parts of the city. Ravi was arrested from Khunti,” said senior superintendent of police Praveen Kumar. He added that the breakthrough came late on Sunday night. The leader of the gang is Ravi’s elder brother Jitendra Singh, but police have not been able to arrest him yet. Picture by Hardeep Singh |
