Giridih, Jan. 22: Two days ago Giridih became synonymous with violence.

But today it became an epitome of harmony. Courtesy: the festival of Langta Baba Majar which started at Kharagdiha in Jamua today.

The 19th century saint, Langta Baba, has been widely adored by thousands of people across Jharkhand and Bihar and also by people belonging to all communities since 1910.

The saint reportedly had spiritual powers but he usually remained naked.

Langta Baba had magical powers and was therefore revered by people.

However, there is still an uneasy calm in Giridih after Sunday’s violence in Bada Chowk.

But because of the decision taken by Bagoder MLA Vinod Singh, the situation is under control in Birni, where an old man was killed during the Muharram procession.

The Bagoder MLA told the administration to remove forces from Birni since the police had earned the wrath of the people after it fired several rounds of bullets.

Acting on Singh’s suggestion, the administration has removed forces from Birni. Since the time forces have been removed there is peace in the villages.

Singh said eversince Jharkhand has been formed these untoward incidents have been taking place against minorities and tribals.

The Bagoder MLA also termed the Congress party’s activities in Jharkhand as nothing but drama.
