Extortion FIR

A Jamshedpur-based builder accused a BJP member, Pavan Agrawal, of demanding Rs 5 lakh from him and lodged an FIR with Sitaramdera police on Sunday.

A resident of Circuit House Area in Bistupur, Nikhar Sablok is developing a residential complex in Sitaramdera, where Agrawal lives. Sitaramdera OC J. Purty said they had begun a probe.

Kidnap drama

A 17-year-old boy was taken into custody from Gamharia, near Jamshedpur, on Sunday for allegedly abducting a 14-year-old girl from Jugsalai on Friday. The girl has been rescued and the boy sent to Ghaghidih remand home. Police, however, suspect the girl eloped with the boy. The girl's father had lodged a kidnap FIR.

Fraud friends

One Pramod Kumar, who was swindled of Rs 6 lakh by his three friends on the pretext of a loan in 2014, registered a case with Ulidih police on Sunday. Brothers Saheed, Sadab and Jishan Khan, who run MK Engineering Works at Ulidih in Mango, had borrowed the money, but the two cheques they gave Promod bounced last week.

Hooch haul

Police seized around 10 litres of countrymade liquor from a hooch den on Gurdwara Road in Mango and arrested its owner Bapi Dutta (40) on Sunday. He was produced before a judicial magistrate and sent to jail.
