Eves' cricket camp in steel city

A total of 29 women cricketers from different districts will be sweating out at the second training camp, which is scheduled at the Keenan Stadium here between September 1 to 10.

Jamshedpur, Aug. 29: A total of 29 women cricketers from different districts will be sweating out at the second training camp, which is scheduled at the Keenan Stadium here between September 1 to 10.

The eves had also attended a similar exercise held in Jamshedpur earlier this month. With the domestic season not far away, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) is keen to keep its players in fine fettle for the grind ahead.

The shortlisted players for the second camp - Aarti Kumari, Bhawna Rathore, Kirti Sharma, Pooja Kumari (Bokaro), Anjali Chauhan, Roshni Kannojia (Deoghar), Durga Kumari, Ruma Kumari Mahato, Subechha Mandol, Sunita Kumari (Dhanbad), Pratima Tirkey (Gumla), Ashwani Kumari, Devyani Prasad, Ritu Kumari, Shivani Kandeyang (Jamshedpur), Dipika Tigga, Kanchan Kumari, Priya Kumari, Priyanka Chauhan, Shanti Kumari (Ranchi), Divya Barwa Ragini Kumari Bharti, Sonia Kumari (Simdega), Anamika Kumari, Anjali Das, Ishrani Soren, Pinky Tirky, Purnima Ray and Rashmi Gudia (West Singhbhum) - have been asked to report at the JSCA office in Keenan Stadium on August 31.

"The camp will be intensive in nature as we intend to keep our players in top fitness," said JSCA secretary Rajesh Verma. Apart from the women's camp, the second state camp for the men will also be staged from September 1 to 14 at the Birsa Munda Cricket Stadium in Chaibasa.

The earlier camp was also held at Chaibasa.

According to JSCA assistant secretary Aseem Kumar Singh, a three-day trial match will be conducted after the camp. "The match will be held between September 15 and 17. The state Under-19 outfit for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy will be announced after the trial match. The selected players will attend a camp at Chaibasa from August 21 before heading to Calcutta to participate in the tournament," he said.
