Elite school entry results declared

Ranchi, June 9: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) declared the results of the preliminary entrance tests for admission to class VI at Netarhat Residential School and Indira Gandhi Girls’ Residential School, Hazaribagh, today.

At Netarhat Residential School, about 423 candidates have been selected to appear for the main examination for a quota of 100 students, while 310 candidates have been shortlisted for Indira Gandhi Girls’ Residential School which can accommodate 75 students.

A total of 2,081 candidates for Netarhat Residential School and about 898 candidates for Indira Gandhi Girls’ Residential School sat the preliminary examination for admissions.

According to JAC officer-on-special duty (OSD) Abha Tirkey, the main examinations for both schools will beheld on June 29 and 30.

On June 29, selected candidates will have to appear for the Hindi paper in the first shift and the mathematics test in the second. On June 30, the social sciences test will be held in the first shift and natural sciences paper in the second.

At Netarhat Residential School 215 general candidates out of 854 cleared the test, while figures for successful candidates of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and other backward class (OBC) categories stand at 109 out of 173, 40 out of 265 and 59 out of 789 respectively.

The success figures for Indira Gandhi Girls’ Residential School are — 153 general candidates out of 331 appeared, 69 SC candidates out of 75 appeared, 39 ST candidates out of 130 and 49 OBC candidates out of 362.

JAC sources said centres for the examination for candidates from South Chhotanagpur division would be in Ranchi.

Those from North Chhotanagpur division will appear for the tests at Hazaribagh, candidates from Palamau division will have their examination centre at Medininagar, Santhal Paraganas division candidates will have their centre in Dumka while Singhbhum-Kolhan division candidates will sit their examination at Chaibasa.

According to JAC sources, successful candidates would have to contact their respective district education officer to ascertain the examination centre allotted to them.

The candidates will have to carry their admit cards, which were issued to them for the preliminary examination.

While speaking to The Telegraph, principal of Indira Gandhi Girls’ Residential School Anand Tiwari expressed satisfaction at the number of candidates, who appeared for the preliminary entrance test.

She said the school was eagerly waiting for the main test to be completed.

“But before we admit the students, medical tests will be conducted. A medical board would be constituted by the Sadar Hospital authorities at Ranchi for the purpose,” she said.

The principal of Netarhat Residential School could not be contacted for comments.
