Dairy Fresh charts milky way in city

Jamshedpur, Aug. 10: The residents of the steel city would have a solution to milk crisis from today.

Dairy Fresh promises to be the solution.

Owned by Jharkhand Dairy Private Limited, a milk producing unit based at Ormanjhi in Ranchi, Dairy Fresh would launch their milk in the steel city.

The city is reeling from severe milk crisis, as Sudha Dairy, run by Bihar Milk Producers Co-operative, has curtailed the supply by 50 per cent in the past few days due to floods in Bihar. The retailers have been asked to bear with the situation and accept whatever quantity of milk is supplied to them.

Dairy Fresh would launch three varieties of milk — standard, toned and cow milk — would be launched in the city.

CEO of Jharkhand Dairy Private Limited Rajiv Ranjan said that the milk would be available in the city markets from tomorrow.

“Initially we will supply 3,500 litres of milk in Jamshedpur. It will be available at select outlets in various parts of the city,” he said.

He added that the the company has plans to increase the supply gradually.

The company, which has a state-of-the-art milk producing plant at Ormanjhi, first launched Dairy Fresh milk and milk products at Ranchi on July 27.

“We received a very a good response for our products in Ranchi and are hopeful for the same feedback from the steel city. Other milk products like lassi, curd and ice-cream would be introduced in phases in the next couple of months. We are putting emphasis on quality products along with proper packaging,” said Poonam Ranjan, the director of public relations of Jharkhand Dairy Private Limited.

Elaborating on the price, Poonam said that toned milk would be available at Rs 19 per litre, while cow milk and standard milk would be available at Rs 20 and Rs 21 per litre respectively.

According to her, they have fixed the price of the milk keeping in mind the price Sudha Dairy’s milk.

The company has appointed about 10 local distributors who would be supplying milk to around 127 outlets in the city.

Officials revealed that at present the company has a capacity to produce one lakh litres of milk per day.

They claimed that the milk would have three distinct advantages because of state-of-the-art machinery and processing which are pure milk (with no milk powder added to it), smell free and would have longer shelf life so that it can be stored for long.
