Ranchi, Dec. 1: Academicians have reacted sharply to the incident at DAV Nandraj Public School, Bariatu, in which a Class IV student was sodomised by one of the senior officials of the school.
C.J Jacob, principal of Army School, said the incident was just the ?tip of the iceberg?. According to him such perversions have become very common and students should be counselled on how to deal with them. ?A recent survey has shown that 65 to 75 per cent of the girls are either molested or raped by their relatives,? added Jacob.
C. Terence, principal of Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School, also called it a shameful and a disgraceful act. ?This is an unfortunate incident, something that has badly hit the prestige of all city schools. The violator, who is in his Fifties, should be immediately rusticated from the school,? he said.
?Parents send their children to schools to learn. They trust and know that the school authorities will take care of them. So these incidents are shocking. The trust will be lost now,? said a teacher of Bishops School.
?We teachers also have got a big responsibility on our hands. We have to do our job in such a way that the lost trust is regained,? she added.
