Jamshedpur, June 15: Dreams of a hefty sum had led the two accused to kill transporter Kulraj Singh alias Raju on April 11 morning.
Superintendent of police, Sanjay Anand Lathkar, today claimed to have solved the Raju murder case after two of the five alleged were arrested.
Dabbu Seth and Niraj Singh, the murder accused, were arrested today.
They apparently had no enmity with Raju but they needed the money to lead a life away from the city after getting rid of the court cases against them.
By producing Dabbu and Niraj before the media, Lathkar also claimed to have detected the conspiracy and execution of the killing.
The police superintendent said the murder was hatched by Suriya Patel but was executed by Dabbu, his younger brother Gichhu alias Nimai Chandra Agrawal, Niraj and Krishna Rao.
One of Suriya?s associates, Mohan Rao, was watching the operation a little distance away, Lathkar said.
Dabbu said the revolver and a country-made pistol was handed over to them by Nandu Patel.
Nandu and Suriya Patel are close friends, he said.
Niraj said: ?As per our plan, Mohan Rao was supposed to give information about Raju?s movement on that day. We arrived on the spot on two motorcycles and killed Raju as soon as we got information from Mohan that the victim was sitting in front of his house.?
?Krishna fired from the revolver from a close range as we surrounded Raju. He had fired five or six rounds at Raju, who died on the spot. After the operation was over, we rolled down the road by firing at Bajaj Showroom to scare the people who had gathered there,? Niraj added.
Lathkar said the murder was plotted at Sakchi jail-gate after Suriya?s wife Uma was humiliated and thrashed by Raju.
