Ranchi, Aug. 24: The Centre for Indian Trade Unions (Citu) has alleged foul play in the death of Hooghly-based medical representative Debasis Bose (26) who was found hanging from the ceiling of his hotel room yesterday.
Citu today demonstrated before the hotel and demanded the arrest of seven officials of Debasis’s company who they allege murdered him. In a complaint to the deputy police superintendent, the union said Debasis had a “strained relation” with his managers and was “tortured to death”.
Citu members said: “The company management misled police by saying it was a case of suicide due to unreciprocated love.”
The complaint said three company managers, including Chiranjeev Mukherjee and Surjit Gupta, who were with Debasis on August 22, were found missing from the room next morning.
According to the complaint, the company’s sales promotional material were found torn and scattered all over Debasis’s room indicating a scuffle.

Basu had physical confrontation before he was murdered. “It was revealed that company'sales promotional material which were meant for distribution in psychiatrists' conference were torn and thrown throughout the room indicating physical confrontation,” the complaint reads.
The union,in its complaint, had alleged: “The company manangers have misled police by giving false statement that it was a case of suicide and that the Basu committed suicide due failure in love affairs.”
Meanwhile family members of the deceased are not ready to except that a youth like Basu could committ suicide. The are also smelling something rat. Basu's sister Shivani Mitra, who resides in the capital, told The Telegraph that his brother was always busy working for his phameceutical compnay, Sun Pharma, since he joined the company as a medical representative on April 3 last year. “While the other medical representatives use to attend 20-25 doctors my brother had a circle of 85 doctorsin different parts of the city. He had never problem in fulfilling his target,” she said.
”He was busy working round the clock to make the medical conference, to be organised by his company, successful. The night he committed suicide he was busy doing last minute preparation for the conference alone. He had been assigned work of filling packets containg files and pen to be distributed amont the doctors who had to attend the conference,” she added.
Meanwhile police have seized Basu's mobile phone started investigation. His old parents paid their last rite at Harmu creamatorim today. Bose was found hanging in Room No. 101 of Hotel Hindustan under Lower Bazar police station on August 23.
