A Chhau dance training centre came up at Adityapur on Thursday, taking the traditional dance form to a new horizon from Seraikela.
Set up by Ashma India, a leading cultural platform of the region, the Chhau is expected to reach a new height as the aspiring candidates will get a completely free of cost training at a prime location in Adityapur. Inaugurated by additional deputy commissioner, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Subodh Kumar, the cente ewill start functioning from Sunday.
"We set up the centre at Adityapur because many aspiring Chhau dancers who reside at Jamshedpur were deprived of getting opportunity for the dance training by going over to Seraikela which is about 35 km away from here, " said Uday Satpathy, a key functionary of Ashma India and promoter of Chhau dance.
Satpathy pointed out the new Chhau dance training centre at Suman Tower near the Aakashvani station will definitely emerge as a vibrant cultural center as they have offered training opportunity for singing and acting besides Chhau dance.
"Chhau dance exponent Tapan Kumar Patnayak and director of Seraikela-based government Chhau Center will be giving the training by coming over to Adityapur on regular basis as our effort will remain focused on the Chhau only, " Satpathy said.
In his inaugural speech, the ADC, Subodh Kumar said, the Chhau dance training centre will bring laurels to Adityapur which is known as basically an industrial township located beside a cosmopolitan city like Jamshedpur.
