Ranchi, Jan. 29: Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC), which has been granted power distribution rights for Ranchi, today held out an olive branch to the state unions stressing that those opting to work with the company would be assured complete pay protection with higher deputation allowance upto 30 per cent.

The CESC’s assurance came on a day when Prashant Chaturvedi, convenor of the Coordination Committee of Power Unions reiterated that they would go ahead with their indefinite strike effective February 11, unless all power employees were declared state government workers and the two December 2012 agreements to hand over distribution jobs at Ranchi and Jamshedpur to private parties were rescinded.

“As over a 100-year-old organisation, CESC fully understands its responsibilities as a corporate citizen, towards its workers, customers, general public and future generations. We shall not be found wanting,” said Sugata Ghosh, vice president, CESC.

CESC has created a special purpose vehicle titled Ranchi Power Distribution Company Pvt. Ltd. to undertake supply distribution for the capital.
