Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) located in Sindoor, Hazaribagh will get two new state-of-the-art buildings, the only ones of their kind in the state, and their doors are set to open anytime this month.

The two buildings, built at a cost of Rs 26 crore, are the law college building and an examination building.

“The current law college building is small and lacks facilities needed to impart education to students,” said principal Jaydip Sanyal.

Registrar of the university, Banshidhar Rukhaiyar, said 5,000 students are studying in postgraduate departments on its Sindoor campus. This is the reason why all other activities here used to come to a standstill when exams would begin.

“The new building is three-storeyed with a 9,000-square feet area. The ground floor has two directors’ rooms with washrooms, principal’s chamber, P.A. room, record room, conference room, guest room, kitchen, faculty common room, classrooms, moot court, two lifts, electric control room, separate washrooms for boys and girls and a gallery room,” said Sanyal.

At present, furnishing work is going on, after which the agency will hand over the building to the college.

“Currently, 600 students are studying here and I can only say that this was the best facility provided by any law college in the state as well as in neighbouring areas,” he added.

“With this building ready, the university will conduct its postgraduate examination without any hindrance within its campus,” said the registrar.

The ground floor of the examination building has a capacity of 600 students, and the first floor, it can accommodate 1,200 students, so that all 1,800 can take their exam in one go.
