Minor girls rescued
• RANCHI: Members of nonprofit Childline rescued two minor girls from Ranchi station on Friday. The girls, who were on their way to Delhi from Khunti, claimed they left home because their parents tortured them.
Rape cuffs
• JAMSHEDPUR: Two 10-year-old boys were detained on Friday for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in Sitaramdera on Thursday night. An FIR has been lodged and the girl sent to MGM hospital for examination.
Gate collapse
• JAMSHEDPUR: A 45-year-old woman, Rita Mishra, was injured when the gate of a Kali Puja pandal collapsed in Telco on Thursday.
Biker dead
• JAMSHEDPUR: A resident of Jadugora, Sandeep Kaibarto (26), who was admitted to Tata Main Hospital with head injuries suffered during a bike mishap on Monday, died on Friday morning.
Mukhiya body found
• HAZARIBAGH: The body of the mukhiya of Bhaghar panchayat in Chouparan block was recovered from near Dadhar river, around 90km from the district headquarters, on Friday. Police said Lupung Munda (40) was killed by one Sundar Munda, who Lupung had defeated to become the mukhiya, and his four associates on Thursday night. Police have arrested three, while Sundar and another accused Chamu Tuti managed to flee.
Murder cuffs
• CHATRA: TWO 20-YEAR-OLDS, MD IMRAN AND MD WARIS, AND A TEENAGER WERE ARRESTED ON FRIDAY FOR MURDERING A 10-YEAR-OLD BOY AFTER SODOMISING HIM. THE BOY'S BODY WAS RECOVERED FROM A WELL THREE DAYS AGO.
JOLT DEATH
N Jamshedpur: One Ranjit Singh Sardar (41) was electrocuted at Narsingpur village under Bodam thana in Patamda, about 35kms from here, in the wee hours of Friday while switching off a generator at a function.
Gamble goes awry
• GUMLA: THE BODY OF ONE SUBAL EKKA (25) WAS RECOVERED FROM THE BUSHES IN DUMRI POLICE STATION AREA ON FRIDAY. SUBAL HAD GONE OUT WITH HIS FRIENDS TO CELEBRATE DIWALI ON THURSDAY NIGHT. IT IS SUSPECTED THAT HE WAS BEATEN TO DEATH BY HIS FRIENDS WHILE GAMBLING IN AN INEBRIATED CONDITION.
BIKE MISHAP
N Giridih: One person was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between two bikes in Mufassil police station area on Friday. While one Suman Rai succumbed to his injuries one way to the Sadar hospital, critically injured Sonu Kol and Dinesh Kol were rushed to RIMS.
Robbers nabbed
Palamau: Six road robbers were arrested at Lamu village under Panku police station on Friday morning. Rs 76,000 in cash, one country-made pistol, eight live bullets and seven mobile phones were recovered from them.
Gumla: A CISF jawan's 14 year old daughter who went missing from Basia police station area 20 days ago, was recovered from a house in Bero police station area of Ranchi district on Friday. The police have detained three persons, including a woman in this connection. They are being interrogated.
Prison security review
• Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar on Friday held a meeting with ADM (law and order) Subodh Kumar, Ghaghidih jail superintendent Satyendra Choudhary and other officials over prison security. Kumar asked them to streamline resources and start e-mulakat in the jail to allow inmates to interact with their kin via video-conference.
Ration stick
• Jamshedpur: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy on Friday suspended a ration dealer in Lodhasoli panchayat, 65km from here, for allegedly not distributing foodgrains since July.
Cow theft
• Jamshedpur: Two cows worth over Rs 80,000 were stolen from a shed in Dhatikidih on Friday. Owner Ibrahim Mallik has lodged an FIR.
Bridge of hope
• Jamshedpur: South Eastern Railway has issued the tender for construction of an overbridge near Jugsalai crossing. The Rs 6-crore bridge, expected to be ready in a year, will end traffic chaos at the crossing.
League deferred
• Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Sporting Association volleyball league was postponed owing to rainfall on Friday. The fixture will resume on October 23.
