Ranchi: Heads of over 50 companies and senior central and state officials are expected to take part in daylong e-Jharkhand Summit-2016 to be inaugurated by chief minister Raghubar Das at BNR Chanakya Hotel in Ranchi on Wednesday.
Das will also hold an interactive session with investors.
Murder cuffs
Khunti: A man was arrested from Marcha Toli in Rania here on Monday for killing an elderly couple last year. Pradeep Topno, one of the three accused in the case, has confessed to having killed the couple in Marcha Toli because he suspected that they practised witchcraft.
Driver dead
Dumka: Unidentified men allegedly poisoned a truck driver and took away his vehicle near Massanjore, close to the Bengal border, in the wee hours of Monday. Hansidah police recovered the body of the driver of the foodgrain truck in the morning. His helper was found in an unconscious state.
Robbers held
Latehar: Four men were arrested from Herhanj here on Sunday night and Monday for robbing at least six passengers of around Rs 50,000 and cell phones last Thursday. While Mukesh and Kirani Ganju were nabbed on Thursday night, Lalbir and Jailal Oraon were held on Monday.

Ranchi: State labour department on Monday published an advertisement in local dailies for recruitment of around 500 teaching and non-teaching staff in 30 new Industrial Training Institutes across Jharkhand.
Tax meet
Ranchi: As many as 3,400 dealers have been registered with state commercial taxes department in September. It came to fore during a review meeting with chief secretary Rajbala Verma on Monday. Verma asked the officials to resolve the certificate cases, in which government's claim was around Rs 191 crore. She also directed them to increase revenue collections in current fiscal.
Firing scare
Two unknown men on a bike fired at a 28-year-old man on Dimna Road in Jamshedpur late on Sunday night, but missed target.
Nanhe Singh, a resident of Subhas Colony, was chatting with two of his friends around 10pm when the incident took place. Police said the attack might have been the result of a land dispute.
Man kills self
A 44-year-old man hanged himself at his house in Uliyan, Jamshedpur, on Monday. Police said Sarthi Mahto was the owner of a shop at Sakchi market. It is yet to be ascertained why he took the extreme step.
Burns death
A 16-year-old boy, who was admitted to MGM hospital in Sakchi on September 24 with burns, succumbed on Monday morning. Ashok Munda, a resident of Kuldiha village in Potka, got burnt while cooking on a stove at home.
Toilet prod
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar on Monday directed executive engineer of drinking water and sanitation department Prabhat Kumar to ensure completion of toilets so that 18 panchayats of the district could be open-defecation free by November 15 under the Swachh Bharat mission.
Festive train
A special train will run between Hatia and Mumbai for a month, beginning October 21 to cope with festive rush.
The Mumbai-Hatia Special Weekly will leave from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus on October 21 at midnight and reach Hatia the next day at 6am with halts at 20 stations. The train will leave Hatia on October 22 at 6.55am and reach Mumbai at 1.15pm the next day.

Chief minister Raghubar Das distributed scholarships worth around Rs 15 lakh among students and disabled children of state police personnel during a programme organised by IPS Officers’ Wives Association (IPSOWA) in Ranchi University on Monday.
Pandal recce
Ranchi mayor Asha Lakra and deputy mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya inspected RR Sporting Club, Satya Amar Lok and Bakri Bazar, among other pandals, in the city to check their arrangements such as CCTV cameras, entry-exit gates and approach roads, among others.
