Ranchi, Oct. 10: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Y.V. Reddy, who arrived here today, may announce opening the bank’s regional office in Jharkhand.
The Patna office of RBI has been controlling Jharkhand too so far.
Reddy is here to attend the bank’s central board meeting — being held for the first time in Jharkhand tomorrow — that used to be held in Chhattisgarh earlier.
RBI officials were tight-lipped about the agenda of tomorrow’s meeting, saying it was an internal and routine meeting of the banking monitor. But some decisions on monetary policies could be expected, they said.
Out of 20 members of the RBI board of directors, 17 have confirmed attendance for the meeting. These include Rakesh Mohan, V. Neeladhar, S. Gopinath, Usha Thorat, Y.H. Malegaun, S.D. Tendulkar, U.R. Rao, Lakshmi Chand, H.P. Raina and A.S. Ganguly.
