Dumka, May 16: There has been no power in Dumka as well as Deoghar and Jamtara districts in Santhal Pargana since Monday evening.

The blackout was caused by the breakdown of a Rs 1.32 lakh KVA transmission line in Mithon.

Alternative arrangements have been made for the supply to the railway overhead of the Kiul-Asansol main section of the Eastern Railway, which passes through Deogarh and Jamtara, by tapping from Sultanganj grid in Bihar.

The power cut has affected pilgrims in Deogarh, who had come there to offer prayers to Lord Baidhyanath.

Reports from Jamtara revealed that residents were facing problems coping with the lack of power in the midst of the scorching heat.

JSEB officials said the supply should be resumed by late tonight.
