Dhanbad, May 5: Members of Indian School of Mines (ISM), ?Karmachari Sangh? are wearing black badges to protest against the apathetic attitude of the school management towards a complaint of mental harassment lodged against the head of department of Centre for Mining Environment (CME) at ISM, by a woman working as a clerk,
The Karmachari sangh is demanding immediate consideration of their 13-point grievances, which, according to them, if not considered would give shape to a major dispute between staff and the school authorities.
The 34-year-old Nanki Karketta, a clerk working in ISM for 16 years, has alleged in a written complaint to the director of ISM that on April 11 2004, head of the department in CME, Gurpreet Singh, had detained her beyond lunch time in office and later had marked her absent in the second half on an alleged issue of a missing file.
Gurpreet Singh, however, apologised to Karketta for his impulsive behaviour, next day in front of all the staff working in the department.
However, he began issuing her show cause notices everyday on more frivolous grounds like suppressing files and documents, spoiling entries against her attendance record in attendance registers, etc, said Raju Rajak, the president of ISM Karmachari Sangh.
Putting forth the demands of Karmachari Sangh, Raju Rajak added that a committee would be constituted immediately for an independent enquiry as any delay will scare Karketta even more. She stays alone in the ISM residential colony and her husband has a government job in Ranchi.
