Ranchi, Feb. 13: A business quiz was organised at Capitol Hill today by the 21st Century School of Business.
Though the organisers said the objective of the quiz was to generate interest in quizzing, and increase reading habits among students and aspiring MBAs, the quizmaster said the event pointed out that participants were not familiar enough with business books and their authors.
The event brought out the fact that youngsters preparing for the various B-schools are not well versed enough, said quizmaster S.R. Krishnan.
But all hope was not lost as Krishnan added that he, however, observed that participating college students were comfortable with current affairs questions.
?The best part of the event was the discovery that college students read newspapers and magazines and this was evident from the responses they gave.?
But this alone is not enough, as an aspiring MBA should be aware about the business books, their authors and other related matters, said Krishnan.
?The negative part of the whole affair was that they (the students) did not seem to read books, which is important if they want to make a career in management. These students should be well versed with business books.?
Students of Ranchi hardly read books rued the quizmaster. ?The quiz brought forth the fact that the youngsters here hardly read books.?
Out of a total of 25 teams who underwent written preliminaries, six made it to the finals. The first place was bagged by the St Xavier?s team and the ICWAI team got the second.
Not all questions elicited answers, at least not the correct ones, from the participants.
In fact at one point during the session, a member of the audience pointed out that the spectators were answering more than the participants were.
Quite truly, the audiences were thrilled at every pass that quizzing teams made and some answers from the former came even before the quizmaster had offered ?audience??.
