Ranchi, Dec. 3: As they say caste, creed, colour or country, nothing can discriminate a mother's love.

A baby girl cuddled up to a Swedish mother while another melted in the lap a Malta-based woman in the presence of a gathering during a legal awareness camp on adoption in the capital today.

Happiness of the two mothers, Hana Asha Charlotta Olsson of Sweden and Mary Louise D'amato of Malta, knew no limit as they held their just-found babies in their arms and smiled through tears at the event organised by Ranchi District Legal Services Authority and NGO Karuna.

"It took us eight months to complete the process of adoption. I am thankful to Karuna for helping us adopt a child," said Hana, who was accompanied by husband Mikael Reinhold Karlsson. "I cant express my happiness." she added.

Mary, who came with husband Elenio D'amato, echoed Hana. "I am very happy today."

Earlier, high court judge and Jhalsa executive chairman Justice D.N. Patel underlined the importance of adoption. "There is no boundary for children. Even laws have been changed to make adoption hassle-free," he said after inaugurating the programme.

Patel added Jharkhand topped in East Zone as far as disposal of adoption-related cases was concerned. Hari Ram Dubey, legal adviser of Karuna, said around 120 kids had been adopted with the help of the family court in the city since January last year.

Around 20 mothers/couples, who had earlier adopted children in Ranchi, had also come to share their experiences of adoption.

Dr Gazala Tarannum, a single woman from Gaya, said her life changed after she adopted a girl six months ago. "I was suffering from loneliness. She transformed my life."

Founder members of Karuna and noted doctors Dr H.P. Narayan and Dr Usha Rani, DLSA president and principal judicial commissioner of Ranchi Navneet Kumar and DLSA secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, among others, were also present.
