NIT in Adityapur has opened its placement season for 2016 final-year batch on an August note, pun intended.
E-commerce giant Amazon, which happens to be the largest Internet-based retailer in the US, has creamed off four NITians from the computer science stream, offering each an annual package of Rs 27 lakh, the highest this placement season that started this month.
The annual campus recruitment for the Class of 2016 with over 680 students comprising BTech and MCA has given 50 students plum jobs so far, but Amazon's pay package has been the most generous yet.
NIT spokesperson Rajiv Bhushan said interviewers from the software major visited their Adityapur campus last week, but results were announced on Monday.
"It's the highest annual package yet for final-year students of the 2016," said an enthused Bhushan.
Bhushan added Tata Steel had kicked off this campus recruitment season, selecting seven metallurgical engineering students and two each from mechanical and electrical engineering streams, offering each an annual salary package of Rs 8.33 lakh.
Grofers India, an online shopping company, also recruited seven students, two each from civil, metallurgical engineering and computer science and one from electrical engineering, offering an annual salary of Rs 10 lakh to each.
Accolite Software, selecting three students from the computer science stream, offered Rs 10.5 lakh per annum.
Mahindra Comviva, a software solutions company, selected 14 students, eight from electronics , one from computer science and five from MCA, offering an annual package of Rs 6 lakh, including perks and other emoluments.
Two-wheeler major Honda offered two jobs - to students of electrical and production engineering streams - offering Rs 8.25 lakh per annum.
"It's early days so far, but the going seems good for the 2016 batch," Bhushan added. July saw the end of the placement season for the batch of 2015 at NIT, with some epic offers.
The 2015 batch saw two BTech computer science students get the highest annual package of Rs 67 lakh each, offered by US-based Epic Systems, a healthcare software company.
The other highlight of the last recruitment process was Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which had recruited a record number of 164 students from the tech cradle, offering an annual package of Rs 3.34 lakh for MTech and MCA and Rs 3.18 lakh for BTech recruits each.
