Ranchi: Ajsu Party president Sudesh Mahto on Saturday wrote to chief minister Raghubar Das asking him to ensure that land records be treated as the only criterion for identifying local natives while hiring them for class III and IV jobs.
He also expects Das to make necessary amendments to the local residents' and employment policies to effect the change.
"All class III and IV jobs should be fully kept reserved for such candidates whose own names or the names of their forefathers appear in the last survey record of rights. All such job recruitment exams, whose results have not yet been published should be cancelled and fresh exams should be held in tune with the proposed new amendments," Sudesh wrote.
The local residents' policy formulated by the Raghubar Das government has six clauses under which people can call themselves Jharkhandi. Land record is not the only criterion.
Under the employment policy, the state government had initially reserved all class III and IV jobs in scheduled areas for local natives for 10 years. On Friday, it notified that these criteria should also be followed in non-scheduled areas for 10 years.
However, Sudesh maintains that these moves were not going to serve the interest of the needy who had been deprived since ages. "This (the notification) should be rectified as 10 job consecutive recruitment years, since recruitments are not being done every year," Sudesh said.
Referring to reported violation of tenancy laws by political heavyweights and bureaucrats, Sudesh said the inquiry report by the special investigation team should be made public and action taken against culprits.
