Ghatshila subdivision in East Singhbhum district is poised to become the next industry hub in Kolhan region after Adityapur.

After resolving the land problem for setting up units in Adityapur and Gamharia in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada) is now planning to spread its wings to Mosabani and Baharagora blocks in Ghatshila.

The outfit has managed to obtain 250 acres in the subdivision and will be able to pursue industrial activities there once Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA) gives the go-ahead.

Of the 250 acres, 150 acres are located in Musabani block and the remaining 100 acres in Baharagora.

Confirming the land acquisition, Aiada secretary Hari Kumar Keshri said the East Singhbhum district administration had arranged the acres for the industry body.

"We had approached the East Singhbum district administration for providing us land for setting up industries as no vacant government plot was available in Aiada command area in Seraikela-Kharsawan. The administration identified land in Musabani and Baharagora. After we approved the suitability of the land to develop factories, it acquired it for us," Keshri told The Telegraph.

The East Singhbhum authorities have forwarded the proposal to JIADA in Ranchi, recommending the land be used for industrial purpose.

"Now the matter is pending with JIADA, which will shortly hand over the land to Aiada for paving the way for allotment to various companies and aspiring entrepreneurs," the Aiada secretary said.

Keshri added that as they were certain that the Aiada's reach was going to extend till Mosabani and Baharagora, they had already started wooing industrial houses for setting up units in Ghatshila.

"A Maharastra-based textile company has shown interest in setting up units at Musabani. A team of the textile company representatives visited the area on Tuesday," he said, adding that they were in touch with companies operating in the state and also outside for setting up units in the extended area.

S.N. Thakur, a key functionary of Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA), lauded the development, saying it would bring about a revolutionary change in industrial activities in the region.

"Ghatshila subdivision, where industrial land has been acquired, is closer to Calcutta both by rail and road. Besides, it is closer to Jamshedpur. We expect a sea change in industrial activities once units are set up there," said Thakur, also the former president of ASIA.
