Ranchi, Dec. 10: ABVP, affiliated to the RSS, today stole the show in Ranchi University (RU) students' union elections, with their candidates winning in most colleges.

The outfit bagged all the five posts of president, vice-president, secretary, deputy secretary and additional secretary at KCB College in Bero, RTC BEd College at Booty More and Doranda College, among others.

"It was a challenge to win as many students in our college did not cast their votes," said an elated Vijay Prakash, who won the post of president at Doranda College.

All Jharkhand Students Union (Ajsu) came a distant second with its candidates winning three out of fiveposts at SS Memorial College, three at Marwari College, two at Mandar College and one in PG department.

ABVP members, however, created a ruckus at Marwari Boys' College, alleging discrepancies in counting.

Police used lathicharge to disperse the crowd during which ABVP member Vishal Saurav and convener Ashutosh Singh received injuries.

"Nearly 330 votes were rejected because the ballot papers did not have the sign of the polling officer. It is not the mistake of the student voters. So, we demand recounting," Singh told The Telegraph.
