Additional deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Ganesh Prasad on Monday released a list of candidates who would contest for the posts of committee members of the Tata Workers’ Union. The polls are scheduled to take place on May 21.

The list released by Prasad, who will also act as the returning officer for the poll, contained the names of prospective candidates who would fight the elections from 214 constituencies in the worker’s unit and around 92 constituencies of the supervisor’s unit. The various departments of the company have been named as constituencies. May 17 has been set as the last day of withdrawal of nominations after which the final list would be put out.

The polls, after a HC order, will take place under the supervision of deputy commissioner Himani Pande and SSP Akhilesh Kumar Jha.

The elections will take place through secret ballot with close to 450 government officials chipping in as volunteers to ensure smooth and fair polls. Apart from them, additional 200 officials would also be deputed on the day of counting, which will take place on May 21 itself.

The ruling faction, led by Raghunath Pandey, would go into the polls hoping to be voted back to power for the fourth consecutive term.
