Bose: The Forgotten Hero
It’s about: Celebrate Independence Day with one of the most greatest heroes of India’s freedom struggle — someone whose charisma had impressed the then political heads across the world, but whose deeds have been rather downplayed by his own country. He is the man whose Indian National Army was the first to raise India’s flag on Indian soil under the British rule. None other than Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It’s about: When Jack and Sally announce that they’re splitting, this comes as a shock to their best friends, Gabe and Judy. So while Jack and Sally try to go on and meet new people, the marriage of Gabe and Judy gets more and more strained, as they realise their situation is not any different from that of their friends. Whom to watch: Brilliantly directed by Woody Allen who also plays the husband searching for his identity within the confines of a conventional marriage. Titus
It’s about: War begets revenge. Victorious general, Titus Andronicus, returns to Rome with hostages: Tamora, queen of the Goths and her sons. He declines the emperor’s crown, nominating Saturninus, the last ruler’s son. Saturninus to spite his brother Bassianus, demands the hand of Lavinia, Titus’ daughter. When Bassianus, Lavinia and Titus’ sons flee in protest, Titus stands against them and slays one of his own. Saturninus marries the honey-tongued Tamora, who vows vengeance against Titus. What ensues is a series of rape, adultery and racist battle ending in the survival of two of Titus’ sons. Whom to watch: Anthony Hopkins is too good as Titus and his role proves once again the versatility of the great actor. Zee Studio; 9pm
