A SpiceJet flight from Kandla landed safely in Mumbai after outer pane of a windshield cracked midair on Tuesday, reports Hindustan Times.
According to officials quoted by ndtv.com, the Kandla-Mumbai flight of SpiceJet was flying at a height of 23,000 feet when the windshield's outer pane cracked.
All passengers and crew members are safe, the airline stated in a statement.
"During cruise at FL230, P2 side windshield outerpane cracked. Associated non normal checklist actions were carried out. Pressurization was observed to be normal. Priority landing was carried out and aircraft landed safely at BOM (Bombay)," the airline added.
Aviation sources claim, "This is the seventh safety-related concern in SpiceJet in less than three weeks."
On other occasions, all of which have been brought to the attention of the regulator, two door warnings, a bird hit, oil leakage from an engine, a pressurisation problem in addition to Tuesday's malfunction, SpiceJet has stirred a hornet's nest.
Earlier on Tuesday, a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Dubai had to land in Karachi due to a problematic indicator light.
