Chennai, Feb. 18: The husband of Jayalalithaa’s estranged friend Sasikala Natarajan was arrested today in Chennai in connection with a land grab case on the day Sasikala was given a clean chit in a Rs 65-crore disproportionate assets case
M. Natarajan, 61, who owns a magazine titled Tamilarasi, was arrested in Chennai following a complaint by Ramalingam, a resident of Thanjavur who alleged he had forced him to sell his land below the market rate.
Tamil Nadu police have already arrested Sasikala’s brother Divaharan and cousin Eravanan in cases of alleged land grabbing and cheating after Jayalalithaa expelled Sasikala and her clan from the AIADMK in December.
During her tearful deposition before a Bangalore court today, Sasikala maintained that though she and Jayalalithaa were partners in two firms, all the decisions and bank accounts were handled only by her and the chief minister was only a silent partner. Jayalalithaa is the main accused in the case.
