Patna, July 17 :
Member of Bihar legislative council and chief minister Rabri Devi?s brother Sadhu Yadav today said he was in no way connected to the Gautam Singh-Shilpi Jain mystery death case.
A fortnight ago, the bodies of Gautam, a RJD youth leader, and his paramour, Shilpi, were found in a car in a state of undress. The police so far have not been able to crack the case and have still not been able to determine it was a case of murder, suicide or accidental death.
Reacting for the first time since a political campaign was launched by the BJP and some other political parties to drag his name into the controversy, Yadav said he was being targeted as the Lok Sabha polls were near. Sadhu Yadav told The Telegraph, ?The media is writing all sorts of things against me. Political battles are fought on the actual ground, not on the pages of newspapers?.
The legislator said that he was sad over the death of Gautam and Shilpi. ?I knew Gautam, but I did not have the faintest idea of his relationship with Shilpi. Neither do I have any idea of what caused their death,? he said.
Sadhu Yadav expressed surprise at the reports appearing in the press on his relations with his younger brother, Subhas Yadav, and RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav. ?It is absurd to think that everyone, from my own brother to my party?s national president, is against me. How am I surviving then?? he asked. ?I respect Laloo Yadav as I would my father and I hold him in high esteem,? Sadhu asserted today.
But, for the moment, he wants to brush aside all the acrimony and controversy surrounding him and concentrate on the electoral battle ahead. He is hoping to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Gopalgunj on a RJD ticket.
?The people of Gopalgunj just love me,? he said confidently. He emphasised that it was because of this that he was being made a target by the Opposition.
?But all the charges that are being brought against me are absurd,? Yadav asserted.
