Raima learns about love

Our Hero No. 1 is making a comeback (another one?) with his home production, Ssukh. Note the double ‘S’ in the title and you’ll understand he’s doing everything to make his film work this one time. He’s even got his Aankhen costar Chunky Pandey to rework their old magic. And the name of the production company? Govinda No. 1 Entertainment P. Ltd! So this way or that way this has got to be a winner. For the sake of law of averages.

Raima Sen

Raima learns about love

Raima, she admitted herself, is learning the nuances of love from the films that she is doing. Such innocence. Like Chokher Bali and Parineeta taught her different layers of love and how people behave when they are in love, her recent films Sandip Ray’s Nishijapon and ready-for-release film, Rituparno Ghosh’s Antarmahal, are also based on relationships. But when love is knocking at her door, she denies having heard the rap. “Not another link-up!” she asks incredulously. “Kunal and I barely know each other. We’ve hardly met.” After Rakesh Bapat, Raima had moved on with her career and was ‘single’ for quite some time. Kunal Kapoor of M.F. Husain’s Meenaxi fame is said to be mighty impressed by this actress of substance. After Dipannita Sharma moved on (maybe towards Abhishek), Kunal is waiting to meet the right person. “When you connect with someone and feel special, the relationship becomes special,” he said. Was he talking about Raima? They did connect bigtime, no? Sources say that Kunal visits Raima at her Juhu home as well. With his Rang De Basanti shaping up well and her career at an all-time high, hope there’s time for love-shove, yaar!

Salman Khan

Sallu Item

Watch out for the superbod Sallu in Sohail Khan’s Fight Club. After Abhishek and Shah Rukh, it’s none other than Salman Khan who’s given his nod for an item number in his home production. The film costars Suniel Shetty, Zayed Khan, Dino Morea, Riteish, Ashmit Patel, Aashish Chowdhry, Rahul Dev, Dia Mirza, Amrita Arora, Neha Dhupia, Yash Tonk and Sohail himself. But the highlight will definitely be the low-height Item Boy.

Pakistan mein pataaka

After the Item Boy Sallu in his home production, here’s an Item Girl in a production away from home. After burning up the Bollywood screen with steamy scenes, Neha Dhupia is all set to aag-lagao the screens in Pakistan. Javed Raza, who’s known as Pakistan’s showman, has signed Neha for an item number in his forthcoming film, Kabhi Pyar Na Karna. Though Neha wants to impress upon us (after all, Meera did the same here) that the song actually helps to take the story forward and prefers to call it a situational song. Seeing Neha’s popularity in Chandigarh where the crowd went berserk when she went to open the LG Lifestyle Shoppe, it seems she’ll create more dhaamaka there than here. Wherever the Lolly lies. Good.

Jassi braces herself for big screen

Now that Jassi ban gayee Jessica and has come back sans the Plain Jane look you can very well guess that she’ll hit the big screen sooner or later. The news is out that she’s already signed a film and the film is ready to go on the floors this October.

Mona ‘Jassi’ Singh has been signed for Main To Chala! to be produced by the Page 3 producer, Bobby Pushkarna. Written by Sanjeev Dutta, the film is being directed by debutant M.J. Ramanna. Though this will be his first attempt at a commercial Hindi movie he has remained the first assistant director to the Oscar winner Milos Forman in the Jim Carrey film, Man On The Moon.

Following the success of Page 3, Main To Chala! is yet another lifestyle flick based on Mumbai. And this time it’s a black comedy. From small screen comedy to big screen black comedy, Mona jaisi koi hai kya?
