Odisha: Police recover Rs 32 lakh buried underground

Odisha police on Wednesday recovered Rs 32 lakh in cash buried underground in a sack, at a village under the Baragarh district, about 340km from here.

Police have arrested four persons in this connection. The cash was found stuffed in a polythene bag and then packed in a sack so that it would remain safe for a long time.

Sources in the police said Rs 39 lakh cash was stolen from a hotel in Sambalpur district, adjoining Bargarh district in western Odisha on April 16.

On the basis of the footage captured by the CCTV cameras, police started the investigation and nabbed the accused.

Later they confessed to have buried the cash underground after distributing around Rs 7 lakh among themselves.

Out of the four accused, three were working in the hotel and one is a former employee of the hotel.
