Officials maintained that the number of cases is rising as more and more people are coming forward for swab tests.

SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, completed one lakh Covid-19 tests on Saturday, informed the state health and family welfare department.Similarly, the number of deaths jumped to 140 on Sunday with reports of 10 more casualties  during the past 24 hours. Among the casualties, two were COVID warriors from Ganjam.

“We lost our Covid warriors. Entire district administration is with their families. We request all people in Ganjam to follow social distancing norms. By doing this you will help our Covid warriors in fighting this war,” said Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.

The two COVID warriors have been identified as Dharanidhar Swain, a  tax collector posted at Hinjulikatu Municipality in Ganjam and Muralidhar Pahdan, a sarpanch of Beluguntha block in Ganjam.
