Bhubaneswar, Feb. 2: The body of a Cuttack-based film distributor was found in his car at the parking lot of Bhubaneswar railway station this evening.
The family members, who had searched for the 46-year-old Kulamani Mishra at various places in the city before spotting the body in the car, have alleged foul play.
His body, however, did not have visible injury marks, police sources said.
A resident of Kafla Bazar in Cuttack, Mishra had been into distributorship of Odia and Hindi films in the state for the past 20 years through his Dolamundai-based agencies Archita Films and Pramila Films.
Mishra's family members said that he had left for Bhubaneswar in his Maruti 800 car around 3.30am to pick up a friend from the Biju Patnaik International Airport. When the family members tried to contact him, his mobile phone went unanswered. The worried relatives kept on trying to contact him on his phone till 2.30pm after which they came here looking for him.
Anand Charan Mishra, the brother of the deceased, said that when the family failed to contact him on his phone, they searched for him near the airport, bus stand and the railway station.
In the evening, they spotted Kulamani's car at the parking lot of the railway station outside platform one.
'We saw him lying on the rear seat of the vehicle with his body covered with a black shawl. The rear doors of the vehicle were open. When we called him, he did not respond,' his brother said. His spectacles were found on the dashboard of the car.
The police said they have recovered Mishra's mobile phones, wallet and some documents, including his Aadhar card, from his possession.
Anand, however, said he was unable to figure out how his brother who had set out from home for the airport reached the railway station. He felt equally puzzled that his brother, who was driving the car himself was found on the back seat of the vehicle.
'We will examine the footage of a CCTV installed at the railway station,' said inspector in-charge of GRP Soubhagya Kumar Swain.
