Mumbai, Jan. 4: The Maharashtra government will watch 3 Idiots and ask the censor board to order cuts if any scene is found to glorify ragging. The government move followed a ragging incident in a medical college, which apparently had some similarities to a scene in the movie.
Eighteen students, including some interns, of G.S. Medical College and KEM Hospital at Parel were expelled from their hostel for ragging juniors. But they escaped being rusticated from the institution run by the civic body.
Ghaziabad (PTI): The CBI has sought permission for narco-analysis tests on Aarushi’s parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar. They have given written consent and said their final objective is to find out the killers.
Amritsar (PTI): The Akal Takht has approved amendments to the Nanakshahi calendar followed by the Sikh community. Occasions like birth and death anniversaries of Sikh gurus will be observed in line with the traditional Bikrami calendar followed before 2003. The Nanakshahi calendar with amendments will come into force from March.
New Delhi (PTI): The Supreme Court has refused to quash a case against Gujarati spiritual guru Asaram Bapu. The criminal case under Section 307 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act was registered against him and two others for an alleged attempt to murder Chandak, a former follower.
Bhopal (PTI): A youth shot a girl injuring her seriously and later committed suicide by shooting himself in the Khajuri Sadak area on Monday. Police suspect it to be a case of love affair and is probing the incident.
Thrissur (PTI): A 26-year-old woman and her two young children were killed on Monday when a cooking gas cylinder exploded. Police suspect the woman might have released the cooking gas and lighted the fire to kill herself and the children.
