Bangalore, March 5: A Bangalore NGO working for the visually impaired will, under a Bombay High Court directive, have to drop "Pinkathon" as the name of an event it will hold tomorrow.

IDL Foundation had publicised the IDL Blind Pinkathon, a series of runs and walks, but ran into trouble since the trademark belongs to Maximus Mice & Media Solutions Pvt Ltd, one of whose directors is model turned actor Milind Soman.

Soman had reportedly sent IDL a written communication saying no one else could use the trademark.

"We have started removing all references to Pinkathon from our event, which will go ahead as planned," IDL founder P.K. Paul told reporters.

"My contention is that I have already applied for registration of IDL Blind Pinkathon."

The registration acknowledgment, copies of which were distributed at the news conference, revealed he had filed for trademark on February 12 and exchanged communications with Soman.A civil suit was filed at the high court seeking Rs 25 lakh in damages after IDL announced its latest event. The litigant said Maximus owned the Pinkathon trademark and had held events across the country to raise awareness about breast cancer and other women's health issues. Soman could not be reached.
