LIC golden bonus

Lucknow, Sept. 1 (PTI): Finance minister P. Chidambaram today announced that Life Insurance Corporation would offer a special bonus totalling Rs 2,100 crore to its 16.82 crore policyholders to mark its golden jubilee year.

The bonus would be applicable only to those who have a valid policy, he said.

LIC policyholders till March 31, 1981, would be eligible for a bonus of Rs 50 per Rs 1,000 sum insured, while those who enrolled between April 1981 and March 2001 would receive between Rs 45 and Rs 6 per Rs 1,000 insured ? with the bonus reducing with the number of years passed.

Those who subscribed to LIC policies from April 2001 to date would get Rs 5 per Rs 1,000 insured.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who inaugurated LIC’s golden jubilee celebrations, also launched a new policy christened Bima Gold.
