Kerala priest murder

• KOCHI: Senior Catholic priest and rector of a famous Christian centre in Malayattoor, Fr. Xavier Thelakkat was on Thursday stabbed to death allegedly by a former sacristan of the parish, police said. The incident occurred in the afternoon when the 52-year-old priest was climbing Kurisumudy, a holy place believed to have been visited by St Thomas. The priest was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon by Johnny, who was removed from the post of sacristan at the parish three months ago, police added. PTI

• RATLAM (MP):A four-year-old girl died after being taken to Ratlam government hospita on a motorbike as her parents were not able to afford the local ambulance. The girl, suffering from pneumonia, died soon after arrival at the hospital on Tuesday night, prompting the district administration to order an inquiry. PTI

Doctor strike

• NEW DELHI: The strike by resident doctors of a Delhi government-run medical college over the alleged assault of two doctors entered its third day on Thursday, even as minister Satyendar Jain assured the strikers of security. The doctors of Lok Nayak Hospital, which is governed by Maulana Azad Medical College, went on strike on Tuesday to protest the alleged attack on two colleagues by the relatives and attendants of a patient.
