New Delhi: Jet Airways on Wednesday clarified that an ad with its name and the tagline "We beat our competition, not you" that was doing the rounds on social media was a fake.
In a statement on Twitter, it said: "Jet Airways did not commission the creative being shared on social media platforms, in context of a recent event concerning another domestic airline. The creative does not reflect our philosophy and ethos and is in fact, in bad taste."
The reference was to IndiGo, whose staff is accused of assaulting a passenger on the tarmac. Earlier, PTI reported that another airline had released two advertisements on Twitter mocking the IndiGo scuffle.
In one of the ads, the airline promises "Unbeatable Service" with the letters 'beat' highlighted in blue - the colour of IndiGo. The second says: "We raise our hands ONLY to say Namaste."
However, late on Wednesday night, the tweets could not be found on the airline's Twitter page. On social media, IndiGo became the butt of ridicule with some suggesting that quarrelling couples book the spouse on the airline so that they could be given the tarmac treatment. Others wanted difficult bosses to fly the airline.
IndiGo chief Aditya Ghosh's letter said ground employee Juby Thomas, who is seen in the scuffle video, was "indeed doing his work and ensuring the safety of passengers". Ghosh wrote this after saying that the passenger, when Thomas asked him why he was being abusive, asked the employee to do his own work.
