Goutam Ghose?s Antarjali Yatra, which went on to win the National Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali (1988), has been released by Maxtech Entertainment in VCD format (Rs 199). Always worth repeated viewing, this Kamal Kumar Majumdar story with scathing dialogues, delivered by Shatrughan Sinha in a remarkable performance as a cynical dom. Ably supported by striking newcomer Shampa Ghosh (whose only film this was) playing the pivotal Sati role.

Another Maxtech Entertainment release in VCD is Sandip Ray?s Uttoran (Rs 199), based on Satyajit Ray?s story and screenplay, winning him the National Award for the best screenplay (1994). Uttoran got good mileage in foreign film festivals like Cannes, Portugal, Singapore and Spain. And it is always engrossing to see Soumitra Chatterjee take on a Ray character; he leads the starcast as Dr Nihar Sengupta, who stumbles across an incident which brings him face to face with the witch doctor belief and business.

From the romantic comedies set of Shemaroo comes the VCD of Dil Bechara Pyaar Ka Maara (Rs 149), a film which released a few weeks back only. Directed by Onkar Nath Mishra and music by Nikhil-Vinay, the cast is an ensemble of little stars like Vikas Kalantri, Aslam Khan, Aman Sondhi, Rajpal Yadav, Mallika Kapur, Jonita Doda and Divya Palat. The one to watch out for is the little, only by height, Rajpal playing an underworld don who spoils the fun of the three boys and his roving eye does the rest.
